The eight-and-a-half-hour-long day inside the hide was a fruitful as the Jambha tree standing tall on the edge of Umbarzara. Before wrapping up my day at this natural waterhole, I took entries of the avifauna in my field work. Since I was alone, I rushed to Pitezari village where I was stationed. I camouflaged the hide, took my essentials, and came out of the hide and stretched out to my heart's content. I lifted my camera bag and took the familiar trial to Pitezari. Negotiating the webbed leaves of Teakwood and Moha trees, trying to make minimal sound, I was treading cautiously among the wood. Walking alone in a jungle needs more alertness than walking with a companion. I was alone here like a fox. Following the trial silently, watching with wide-open eyes, my ears were grasping a variety of sound stunned me... 
'Khyak! Khyak! KhyakoSS Khyak!' 
It was a Langur alarm call. The leader of the gang of Langurs was sitting on the tall tree making alarm calls out of fear. Rest of the Langur brigade continued raising the alarm calls. The network of alarm calls was expanding its range as the petrified Langurs speeded to the trees near and far and secured their places on treetops. All this upheaval was created by only one animal's presence- a Leopard. Many animals make alarm calls when they see a predator- Tiger or a Leopard nearby. The Langur is more reliable when it comes to finding clues about the presence of the apex predators in the jungle. The mighty elusive Leopard of Umbarzara was out of his liar. He was on the prowl. The stealthily moving figure in spotted gold- black cloak was spied by these Langurs. Even the small ones from the legion of Langurs were giving alarm calls.

I stayed put. Gauged the leader Langur's target sight and scanned the area visually. Took some steps. Stopped again. A fresh scat was lying before me on the trail. The bluish-purple flies were hovering over it. I was sure that the Leopard was somewhere near. The distant alarm call of four-horned antelope was adding to the chaos.

His goal is to get in to the Forbes list of richest person - and he won't settle for anything else.
                        Such is the determination of the 25 year-old, who was born blind and overcome all adversities to become the first international blind student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology  (MIT) and now heads a Rs 30 crore ($4.6 million) company. Visiting manufacturing plants in different locations in Telangana and Karnataka, attending business meetings and, in between, troubleshooting over the phone, the CEO of Bollant Industries is a busy man. 
           Born in a family of farmers in Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh, life has been one long struggle for him. After passing his class 10th exam he chose the science stream for the plus- two stage but was not permitted to write the Joint Entrance Exam for IIT- aspirants as he was blind. "I said when IIT doesn't want me, I don't want IIT either. Let me find the best opportunity in the world- better than IIT. MIT being the top school in the world. I always wanted to go there and I went there," said Srikanth, who was B.SC.in management from MIT When his bachelor's course was ending, few questions hindered Srikanth he decided to give up the 'golden opportunity.' in corporate America and came back to India in search of answer to his question.
Srikanth Bollah set up a support service platform to rehabilitate, nurture and integrate dif- ferently abled people in society. Srikanth helped about 300 students in acquiring educational and vocational rehabilitations. Later, when he thought about their employment he built this company which now employs 150 differently abled people. Srikanth's three most important life lessons are show compassion and make people rich. Include people in your life and remove loneliness, and lastly do something good; it will come back to you. Srikanth Bollah, the guy who was born blind is now a new ray of hope for many people.

Q1. A. Read the following extract and do the activities:      (12)

I scored 100% marks in Mathematics in almost all the examinations that I appeared for from my 1st standard until IIT, barring only a few times. I stood 16th in the SSC Board (at that time, this examination was for the whole of Maharashtra, including Nagpur) and I stood 1st in the University in all subjects put together. Those days, you could get an admission into IIT without the entrance test (JEE) if you had secured the 1st rank in the University. Therefore, I did not have to appear for the entrance test to get the admission into IIT, but nobody in Solapur told me about it, for I doubt if anybody in Solapur even knew about this rule. Therefore, I appeared for the entrance examination, and I secured a very good rank in the same. I was quite happy getting into IIT, but my joy was short lived. At Solapur I had not seen any building which was more than three storeyed. Mumbai however was full of skyscrapers. At IIT, most of the students and professors used to converse in English whereas my English was very poor. I had my entire education in Marathi. My spoken English was quite pathetic. Not only did I have a very weak vocabulary, but, my pronunciation also was terrible and my construction of English sentences very awkward to say the least. Due to all this, I was feeling quite lonely and terrified in Mumbai in general and IIT in particular. I had developed an inferiority complex and wanted to run away from IIT and even Mumbai.  
One day, I was sitting at my mess table in the hostel sipping tea when a senior guy came and sat on the chair adjacent to me. He was a convent educated guy with fairly sophisticated English- at least spoken or colloquial English. He was a bit arrogant and wanted to pull my leg. He tried to engage in some conversation with me and started pointing out errors in just about every sentence or everything that I said. After about 5 minutes he walked away after insulting me.  
I felt extremely humiliated and upset. As it is, I was feeling quite depressed and diffident and this incident was the last straw. I was almost broken. I felt out of place there and literally wanted to run away to Solapur that very moment. However, it was only my self-esteem which stopped me. Suddenly, a feeling of determination and strength came over me and gripped me. Despite hailing from Solapur, if I could be a rank holder in the school, college and IIT with many awards in Mathematics, there must be something right with me. Why should I give up? And that too for a silly and small thing like English? I was not to give up anymore, and I was determined to fight back.

CHANAKYA had come to Takshashila about seven years ago in pursuit of higher education. Seasons after season had passed by. He had gained knowledge of various subjects. This education had widened his horizon. It had opened many more avenues of scholastic achievements to him.
Even though  Chanakya’s main avocation was Medicine and Political Science yet he had indulged in variety of subjects like Economics, Social Science, World History, Geography and little bit of mathematics and others. The University had evening classes for students with inadequate means of support. Also the University had given freedom to student to select any class they were interested in. Chanakya had taken advantages of all these facilities to the fullest extent.
University was not the only source of education for Chanakya. He learned the academic and theoretical education at the University. Practical education of day to day workings of trade and commerce, history of Bharat, upto date happening in other Kingdoms came from Shivshanker, a walking encyclopedia. Shivshankar had given him information about political, social and economic conditions of other Kingdoms like Kekaya, Takshashila, Youdheya Malava, Shudraka, Saubhuti, Katha and Gandhar.
Chanakya, Indusharma and Gangadas were frequent visitors to Shivshankar and occassionally Shivshanakr used to visit them at University dormitory.
Today the troika was visiting Shivshankar after a long absence. Obviously Shivshankar was delighted by their visit and welcomed them heartily. He made them comfortable in the living room.
He reproved in jest and said, “I thought you boys forgot us ? Chanakya, your mother was getting worried. What took you so long to visit us ?”
“Well, we are sorry. But we have got more home work to do and sometimes we have to attend evening classes too,” Indusharma was trying to justify.

Our world is growing even more insecure and chaotic as the speed of technology development and the consequences of the socio political changes increase .The youth has been observing dishonesty, corruption, bribery and all such challenges making their future less predictive>

Anchor 2: so how will they succeed and what can the world to now to help them along.

 

 

Anchor 1 :Let's have a  look at these young generation facing these biggest challenges and realizing that Honesty will remain yesterday, today and forever.

Anchor 2:Hold on ...dear Audience, it is notme ,who is telling this .This  conversation is frequently heard at every place around us and I know you have guessed it correctly.

Anchor 1: Yes ,the conversation is going between the people of two different generations maybe the same you had with your  parents and grandparents  .the new generation has lost the real essence of life .And the old generations are outdated so, this forms a rift  between the two generations. I think insted of telling you about the generations rift

Anchor 2: Why don't we enjoy the English skit presented in the form of mime show by our dear students.

        It was April 2004.I stood in the middle of the lush green field of Moong (green gram) and looked around me. It was just before sunrise and the sky was turning bright Orange. The ground was damp and the leaves were shining with due. My bare feet were muddy as I walked around gingely ,inspecting the plants.

         Around me were rows of Chipko trees and below dense foliage of moong. At that point ,I could not have asked for anything more. The moong plants, not more than two feet tall, had green pods hanging out .The pods were not yet ripe and there was a light fuzz growing on them. There was still some time before the harvest. I felt exhilarated.

          I stood watching the sun rise above the towering trees across the fence and slowly made my way back to the house, a white structure in the middle of this greenery .I could not believe that I was the owner of this land and that I was looking at my first crop as a farmer. After I had paid the the advance money for the the land, I  thought I would have some time to get familiar with harming. But Moru Dada, the broker who got us the land ,had other ideas .He was keen that we plant moong at once. I was not prepared for this. I was still reading books and trying to figure out what we could sow and how we should go about it. Moru Dada was quite firm. He said the season was right for sowing moong and the best seeds were available in Surat in the adjacent  state of Gujarat.

         I made a quick trip to Surat and bought around 10 kilograms of moong. Moru Dada rented his tractor to plough the land and quickly planted moong all over the place.

         Few days later, we were overjoyed to see tiny green leaves. I had never seen moong growing before and was thrilled at the sight. it was the same thrill I had felt as a young boy when I saw the first of the Hibiscus I had planted bloom at the Railway Quarters in Vile Parle in Mumbai. I was grateful to have taken Moru's advice.
