He had a working analysis of mankind’s troules : marriage, money and the tangles of human ties. Long practice had sharpened his perception. Whithin five minutes he understood what was wrong. He charged three pies per question, never opened his mouth till the other had spoken for at least ten minutes, which provided him enough stuff for a dozen answers and advices. When he told the person before him, gazing at his palm, “In many ways you are not getting the fullest results for your efforts,” nine out of ten were disposed to agree with him. You have an impetuous nature and a rough exterior.” This endeared him to their hearts immediately, for even the mildest to us loves to think that he has a forbidding exterior. The nutes vendor blew out his flare and rose to go home. This was a signal for the astrologer to bundle uo too, since it left him in darkness except for a little shaft of green light which strayed in from somewhere and touched the ground before him. He picked up his cowrie shells and paraphernalia and was putting them back into his bag when the green shaft of light was blotted out. He looked up and saw a man standing before him. He sensed a possible client and said : “You look so careworn. It will do you good to sit down for a while and chat with me.” The other grumbled some reply vaguely. The astrologer pressed his invitation: whereupon the other trust his palm under his nose, saying: “You call yourself an astrologer?” The astrologer felt challenged and said, tilting the other’s palm towards the green shaft of light: “Yours is a nature....” “Oh, stop that,” the other said. “Tell me something worthwhile....” Out friend felt piqued. I charge only three pies per question and what you get ought to be good enough for your money....” At this the other withdrew his arm, took out an anna and fulung it out to him, saying “I have some questions to ask. If I prove you are bluffing you must return that anna to me with interest.”

Dear friends, 
I realise how the contributions of the youth in the past have continuously contributed to the world of today in many fields. I would like to assert that no youth today need to fear about the future. Why? The lgnited mind of the youth is the most powerful resource on the earth, under the earth and above the arth. Dear young friends I would like to talk to you on the topic “I am born with wings.” Last year I went to a village to inaugurate a programme called Sasthrayaan, which means the propagation of science.’ The mission of Sasthrayaan was to ensure the preparation of about two thousand students from different schools towards making them eligible to be an engineers, scientists, doctors qualified managers and civil servnts. This action would be in turn, empower about two thousand families of the village. My inaugural address to a mixed audience, consisting of five thousand students and their family members was on the topic. ‘Science Empower the Nation.’ After my address, hundreds of hands were raised for asking questions. Due to the limited availability of time, I selected twelve students at random from the last row to the first to ask questions. I would like to share with you one question of great concern which was asked by a student. The question was from a teenager who had come from far away village. He was nervous and typical representative of the youth of India. The boy began speaking. “Sir, I don’t know what I should ask. I am nervous. I have not asked any question in my class. I need to have confidence but I have not gained any confidence hrough my education during all these years. I am afraid to talk to my teachers. I am afraid to talk to my friends. Whenever I talk, I compare myself with other students and their elegant dress. Please tell me. I want to become a marine engineer. I want to travel in a ship. I want to be the captain of the ship. I want to build the engine of the ship. Shall I be able to do all these, sir ? How can I achieve this mission ? What should I do ? When the boy completed the question the entire audience and the dignitaries on the dais including the Chief iister were looking at me wondering what Kalam was going to say to the sincere question of a young village boy.”

Report: Educational Visit to Shivneri Fort

Our class visited the historic Shivneri Fort on 10th June 2025, departing at 7 a.m. by private bus. 45 students and 3 teachers participated.

The fort is a symbol of Maratha pride and the birthplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Its huge entrance, water tanks, and historic temples impressed us all. Though slightly worn, the site is maintained by ASI with cleanliness and signage.

The students learned a lot about Shivaji Maharaj’s early life. We returned by 6:30 p.m. enriched with knowledge and pride in our heritage.

1) Plot of "Around the World in 80 Days":
The novel follows Phileas Fogg, a punctual Englishman who bets that he can travel the world in 80 days. With his servant Passepartout, he faces various adventures, delays, and challenges across continents. Despite difficulties and a pursuing detective, he eventually succeeds, proving determination and planning overcome all odds.

2) Synopsis of Chapter 34 & 35:
In Chapter 34, Fogg believes he lost the bet. However, in Chapter 35, he realizes he gained a day due to time zone changes. He rushes to the Reform Club and arrives just in time to win. These chapters highlight the novel’s climax with suspense, resolution, and clever time logic.

1) Sherlock Holmes as a Leading Character:
Sherlock Holmes is the central character known for his sharp observation, logical reasoning, and scientific methods. In "The Sign of the Four", he unravels a complex case involving hidden treasure and betrayal. His unemotional approach, addiction struggles, and intellect make him a compelling and iconic detective figure.

2) Theme of "The Sign of the Four":
The novel explores themes of greed, colonialism, justice, and friendship. The mystery revolves around a stolen treasure, betrayal, and revenge. It also reflects Victorian society’s view on crime and ethics. Holmes’s analytical brilliance contrasts with human emotions, showcasing the dual nature of intellect and morality in crime solving.
